Do they really work? Hair, Skin & Nails vitamins

Hair, Skin & Nails vitamins...

We all know that vitamins are imperial to our health. Whether we find them in the foods we eat or in the capsules we take, it is important to include them in our daily nutrition.

So, let's get down to the real nitty gritty," do vitamins for hair, skin and nails really work? I will tell you from experience that they DO! I began to notice the distress signs. Nail brittleness and poor nail growth were symptoms of my vitamin deficiency.

Weeks would go by and my nails would not grow out. Same goes for my hair. It was not growing out as usual. So I decided to take action and began taking my HSN vitamins daily. Within a week or two I noticed the drastic improvements in my nails. For once, they  felt stronger and longer .

The HSN vitamins I take contain:

  • Natural B Complex
  • Biotin
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin E
  • Protein
  • Grape seed extract
  • Horsetail extract
  • Glycine
  • Collagen
As for the condition of my hair goes...
Well let's just say that now I'm thinking twice about taking my vitamins! Why? Well, before I started taking my HSN vitamins, it would take me 3-4 months to get my routine root touch up. Now,2 months pass by and I find myself at the hair salon with conspicuous black roots! Root touch up's can be pretty pricey you know! lol jk

On a more serious note, taking HSN vitamins or any type of multivitamin specifically for hair, skin and nails has been effective for many individuals such as myself who lack vitamins in their daily nutrition.  Take action by becoming proactive for a much more healthier you. Try to find out more about health supplements by talking to your health care provider.

TLC for your Hair: One n Only Argan Oil

Rating: ★  5 out of 5

Product Review:
  1. Terrific aroma. (soft scent)
  2. Leaves hair silky smooths, adds shine and eliminates frizz.
  3. A little goes a long way, which means more bang for your buck!

I purchased this product while browsing through the isles of  Sally's Beauty Supply Store for about $8.

You can say bye-bye to frizzies!

I have to say the buzz on this product is true.

Was it a waste? It most certainly was not! I got hooked!
How I apply it, is after I  have washed my hair, I get a drop or two on my palm and distribute it to my hair.

TLC for your Hair: One n Only Argan Oil Restorative Mask

Product Review
My rating: ★ 4 out of 4
Pro's:
  1. Definitely Moisturizes your hair like CRAZY!
  2. Smells incredibly AMAZING!
  3. Leaves your hair soft & silky smooth.
  4. The  protein & keratin in this product rebuilds the strength of your hair(definite plus)
Con's:
  1. Price of product $9.99 (seemed a little pricey @ first, but is was worth every penny)
I was compelled to give this product a try, after having a little chat with one of the staff member's @ Sally's beauty supply store. It was clear to me that she was the type of person that experimented A LOT with her hair and managed to still have some hair left. lol. ( Bad joke) Definitely an ideal person to ask what product to use for chemically damaged hair.
Obviously, it's no surprise, I am a blonde by choice. For over 2 1/2 years. Chemical damage, hair breakage and dry split ends are no strangers to me ...
At this point in my life, I'll give anything a try, just to bring my hair back to life!!!!!
I had a feeling I wouldn't go wrong with this restorative mask , I was already in love with the Argan oil product they have out; which reminds me, I am completely out of! (note to self)
Well to say the least, I walked out of Sally's very optimistic & satisfied!

Application
The directions read like so: "After shampooing, apply a generous amount of Restorative Hair Mask and let it penetrate for 7-10 minutes. Then, rinse it out. Does not require heat."

I took a slightly diff. approach to the application process!

I applied it before showering for 15 mins. Prior to applying the restorative mask, I damped my hair with water. FYI, the protein & keratin in it makes your hair feel a little on the stiff side. Don't be frighten, it's suppose to feel like that!

TLC for your Hair: Product review L'oreal Nature's Therapy Cond.

Product Review: L'oreal Nature's Therapy Conditioner!

Are you in the market for a new hair conditioner? Is your old one kinda ehhh?! I know what you mean, I was the same way too. Until, a co-worker of mine, years ago recommended me this conditioner. Its about $8-12 at Sally's Beauty Supply. However, they do have those $1.49-2 little packets for skeptics! So if you are like me, & you rather spend the dollar than the 10-12, GO FOR IT! But believe me, your hair is going to be asking you to go back to get the full jar! I love it, my mother and I have been using this conditioner for years and just love the consistency , the smell and most importantly the results. Leaves your hair super soft, its ridiculous! It detangle's, adds shine and leaves your hair more manageable. Give it a try & let me know what you think!

TLC for your Hair: Hask Placenta No rinse

Product Review: Hask Placenta No rinse Hair Repair Treatment
Rating: ★ 4 out of 4
If you ever seen this product while roaming through the isles in Wal-Mart and wondered if it really worked, well then rest assured , it does!
So how does it work?
Like many other leave-in hair treatments, you apply it right after shampooing your hair. What I regularly do is right after I've towel dried my hair, I pour half of the product into my hair ( half because I don't have much hair) and massage thoroughly.
Don't worry, it smells great and it does leave your hair soft. I would recommend applying Argan Oil right after the Hask Placenta treatment. You'll noticed the results as your hair air dries!

TLC for your Hair: Damage Control

Do you or a loved one suffer from damaged hair?
Is it Brittle, Dull,  & out of control ?
Well have no fear, because you’re not alone my dear. Many of us fall victim to hair damage. Whether you have damaged or dry hair as a result of hair coloring, blow-drying  straightening, or harsh hair products, they all  have the same damaging effect. Now before you sprint to the nearest beauty supply store, & empty your wallet on the “best”  products for your hair’s unfortunate situation, check your kitchen for these key ingredients that will help you make your own hot oil treatment from the comfort of your home.
Look for:
  1. Virgin Olive Oil (Great Moisturizer , contains Vitamin E)
  2. Jojoba Oil ( moisturizes , adds softness & shine)
  3. Virgin Coconut Oil( considered an intensive moisturizer , also contains Vitamin E
  4. Avocado Oil (Contains Vitamin A,B ,D and E all great for hair)
  5. Almond oil ( Contains Omega vitamins which nourishes, softens and helps strengthen your hair)
  6. Grape-seed oil( rich in vitamin E and C)
Did you find any of them in your kitchen? Great!  Now, you can try combining them all together, mix and match or use them separately. Personally, I love to live life on the edge, so I opt to  combine them all.
Instructions for your Homemade Hot Oil Treatment! (( Hurraayy for you)))
  1. Find a microwave safe bowl.
  2. Add 2-3 of tbspn of your preferred oil into your microwave safe bowl.  ~( Depending on the length of your hair, use your judgement on the amount of oil you want to apply. The idea is that your Hair must be saturated!)
  3. Stir the mixture of oils.
  4. Next, place the container in the microwave for 1-2minutes.
  5. Caution! It might be extremely CALIENTE! (HOT). So let it sit until you feel comfortable applying it on your hair!
  6. Unless you want oily hands, this is where you might want to find some disposable gloves! If you can’t find any, no worries. Your hand’s will benefit too.
  7. Distribute your hot oil treatment from your ends and work your way up to your scalp.
  8. Now I am pretty sure you don’t want to leave a trail of oil’s around your house! Make sure you find a plastic bag, plastic rap, or a shower cap and secure your hair in it!
  9. Depending on how damaged your hair is, the longer you leave it on the BETTER! Since my hair is horrific, I personally leave it on for 1hr -5 hrs. If your hair is so so- then 30 mins will do!
  10. Last but not least, shampoo your hair out with a mild shampoo and reap the benefits of your inexpensive at home hot oil treatment!
NOT DONE YET!!!!
Now, for the sharing is caring part.
If you know of a special concoction, such as a hair treatment that works for you, your sister, aunt, friend or neighbor, then share it!

TLC for your Hair : Hot Oil Treatment

A Sizzling Hot oil treatment & Hair Rinse
Pssstt…
Did you hear that?! I think that was my hair talking! Did she tell you I’ve been neglecting her for a while now?!  Well, it’s true! But let me tell you how I made it up to her!
Follow along….
So since my hair was in dire need of some quality time,  I decided to pamper her in the following order:
  1.  I treated her to a nice hot oil treatment.
  • 1 tbsp Unrefined Coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp Avocado Oil
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tbsp African Royal Hot Six Oil
2. After that I cooled her off with a handful of fresh crisp MAYO!
3. Now to end the perfect date, I blew a generous amount of warm heat to her with my blow dryer!
So, little did she know that our “date” was not completely over!! Prior to our rendezvous, I set aside some time to prepare a rosemary & apple cider rinse!
Rosemary & Apple Cider Rinse Recipe
Ingredients:
  1. 1 handful of fresh rosemary leaves/sprigs.
  2. 1 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
  3. 1-2 cup of water (depending how much hair you have)
Instructions:
  1. Bring water to a full boil.
  2. Place your rosemary leaves into boiling water.
  3. Turn off the water and let it steep. ( the longer you leave it to steep, the more concentrated it gets)
  4. Once cooled off, strain the liquid & remove the rosemary sprigs.(Whether you want to take the saucepan in with you to the shower or place it in a safe container is up to you!)
  5. Now add into the your saucepan/safe container 1 tbsp of Apple Cider Vinegar.
  6. After you shampoo as normal, finish off with your Rosemary & Apple Cider Vinegar.
In case you decide to treat your hair in the same way, let us know how your experience was!
